St Christopher's Day takes place on 25 July

Today is St Christopher's Day. The 'Christ-bearer', a name which alludes to the legend of a man carrying the child Jesus across a river, is known by Christians the world over as the patron saint of travellers and children. Little is known of him, however, and his feast day no longer appears on the official Catholic calendar of saints. Our ancestors would have celebrated his feast day and some parishes baring his name may still do so today.
