In line with the 1920 Census Act, the 1921 Census was released exclusively online at Findmypast in January 2022, in partnership with The National Archives and the Office for National Statistics. The project involved intensive digitisation and conservation work over three years and was the largest digitisation project ever to be completed by The National Archives and Findmypast. The work means these precious records were brought online for the first time and can be accessed from home exclusively via Findmypast.

Mary McKee, Head of Content Publishing at Findmypast, said: “It’s been an incredible year seeing the amazing discoveries our community and beyond have made using the 1921 Census. We’re delighted to celebrate this milestone with 21% off, so more people than ever have the chance to uncover their own family history mysteries and surprises.”
