Quiz answers

  • Q1: Isle of Man, UK, Civil Birth Marriage & Death, 1849-2013

  • Q2: On Ancestry, if the same person appears more than once (often due to cousin marriages or tree-building errors), you can use the 'Merge with Duplicate' tool. This allows you to combine two profiles into one, preserving facts, sources, and connections — and keeping your tree accurate and tidy.

  • Q3: You can back up your Ancestry tree by exporting it as a GEDCOM (.ged) file — a universal family tree format used by most genealogy programs. Just go to your tree settings, scroll to “Manage your tree,” and click Export Tree. Then download the file to store or upload to other software.
