How to get my trial
Free trials are available to eligible new Family Tree Plus customers only (see below).
Who can get the free trial?
Free trials are available only to customers who have:
- Never had a trial previously
- Never held a membership
What if I forget to use it?
- We’ll send a couple of emails to show you what’s inside Family Tree Plus and help you get the most from your trial.
- You can visit your Membership area at any time to see how many day(s) you have left.
- When the 7 days are up, we’ll email you to explain what to do if you’d like to continue.
What details do you need and why?
- Your name, email and phone number are required when you subscribe — collecting them at trial stage means we don’t need to ask again later.
- This is not a hard sell — we won’t use your phone number to call you. It’s only used to validate trial access.
- We’ll email you about your trial, but you don’t have to opt-in to marketing emails to take the trial.
- By registering an account with us you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of Use .
What if I already receive Family Tree magazine by subscription?
Family Tree Plus is a separate service, so you are welcome to subscribe to both — receive the print edition of the magazine and enjoy the many benefits of Family Tree Plus.

What if I already subscribe to the digital edition of Family Tree?
Family Tree Plus includes access to every new issue of Family Tree, plus a searchable library of back issues — so in most cases we recommend making the switch. When you can switch depends on your current digital subscription.
Pocketmags subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is cancelled in your subscription area at least 24 hours before the end of your current term.
Please note: access to the Family Tree Library ceases if your Family Tree Plus membership expires, while a Pocketmags digital subscription lets you keep the issues you have paid for.
Anything else I should know?
Yes — free trials are only available to new Family Tree Plus customers. Once you have purchased a membership package, you will no longer be able to access the free trial service. Trials are non-transferrable and subject to our website Terms and Conditions of Use .
