At noon UK-time on Saturday 26 March #HistoryForUkraine will take to the air, being live-streamed on YouTube.

Taking the form of a live, online, 24-hour genealogy and history event, it will see world-class presenters from around the globe talk on a fascinating and diverse range of historical topics. The programme is not yet announced, but visit https://historyforukraine.co/ to find the latest information.

There you will also find links to the #HistoryForUkraine YouTube channel, which will be the principal way of taking part in the event: you will be able to:

  • watch the live stream
  • make comments
  • and the presenters will aim to cover as many audience questions as possible.

What can you do to help?

There are two main ways in which you can help.

Content continues after advertisements
  • Firstly, tell your family and friends about HistoryForUkraine. Many of the speakers are experts who you will recognise from your TV channels: Dr Juanina Ramirez, Professor Kate Williams, Professor Susannah Lipscombe and many more. The event is free to view, and the organisers hope that people will donate what they can afford.
  • Secondly, donate! All donations immediately go to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, which is run by the British Red Cross Society.

Such is the level of support for HistoryForUkraine that subsequent satellite events are being scheduled to be held. So if you can’t watch live next weekend – or if you just wish to continue to immerse yourself in history and support future HistoryForUkraine events – just keep an eye on the HistoryForUkraine website: https://historyforukraine.co/
