TheGenealogist.co.uk has launched a new service that allows you to search for your ancestors among the largest collection of combined war memorial records and images currently available.

Launched today at Who Do You Think You Are? Live with 100,000 records, TheGenealogist promises this collection will offer fast growing coverage.

Records range from soldiers lost in the Boer War in 1901 to more recent conflicts.

Information recorded in the database includes: where a soldier is commemorated; the regiment he was in; and full location of the War Memorial. It may also be possible to see images of the war memorial itself.

Each transcript brings up details of the memorial with overview images of the entire memorial and is connected to Google Maps with StreetView to see the precise location.

Memorials are linked to the Imperial War Museum’s Memorial Archive, providing further details about the memorial, such as who built it, when it was built, who paid for it and more.
