Here at Family Tree we are super excited about Christmas - the tree, the presents, the carols and my goodness the food!! But we are also looking forward to spending time with family. Of course it's lovely just to be together at Christmas... but if we can get something out of having all those relatives squeezed into the front room in terms of family history research, we most certainly will!

So roll on boxing day and the beginning of Start Your Family Tree Week. For the second year running we are taking part in this week that runs from 26 December to 1 January. Each day on the blog we will be offering expert tips and info to help you start your reaearch or to get more out of it. Everyone can learn something, so please do encourage family and friends who are new to family history to get involved.

We will have charts, interview sheets and a fantastic competition open to all, which should tempt even the most experienced of researchers, so please visit throughout the week to see what's happening. To make sure you never miss a post, subscribe to our blog by clicking the RSS button in the bottom right hand corner of this page.

From all of us at Family Tree have a very merry Christmas and best wishes for a successful year of research in 2012. We hope to see you during Start Your Family Tree Week!
