New findings revealed by Ancestry UK reveal that two fifths (40%) of UK adults are planning on taking their children to the same location they holidayed when they were young.

New findings revealed by Ancestry UK reveal that two fifths (40%) of UK adults are planning on taking their children to the same location they holidayed when they were young.

The findings also reveal the importance of personal history and family traditions when deciding where to go on holiday, with a massive 85% of people agreeing that ‘family connections’ drive their desire to travel to particular places in the UK.

Additionally, a quarter (23%) of Brits hope their own children will carry on this tradition, meaning generation after generation could be building sandcastles on the same beaches.

The news comes as Ancestry announces it will offer free of charge access to its British and Irish records during the bank holiday weekend (23-26 August 2019).
