The new series, which is being developed by Plum Pictures for Channel 4, will examine and explore 'individual stories of British heroism, adventure, exploration, survival and ingenuity – with a twist'.

William Fisher of Plum Pictures explained: 'We are looking for living family descendants to help us uncover these stories – who we will film following in the footsteps, reliving that exciting tale.

‘Most importantly, there needs to be an object at the centre of each story that we hope to rebuild/recreate. The object itself could be anything! It could be a makeshift boat used in an escape attempt in World War Two, to a beloved vehicle that took your ancestor on an amazing adventure. It might only exist as a sketch in your Grandad’s war diary, letters or memoirs... a dream that is yet to be realised. We are open to any ideas!’
