The General Register Office for England and Wales has announced plans to modernise the way we register births and deaths, and give notice to marry.

It’s been possible to register civil partnerships online since March 2006. Now the web-based sytem - Registration Online (RON) - has been extended to cover birth, death, stillbirth and marriage registration together with the legal preliminaries to marriage and civil partnership.
