DNA for Beginners: The Three Tests

Laura House will be speaking on ‘DNA for beginners – the three tests’ at Family Tree Live.

Introducing Laura House’s talk:

‘DNA for Beginners’ provides an overview of the three direct-to-consumer DNA tests currently available on the market: the autosomal DNA test, the Y-STR test, and the mitochondrial DNA test. The audience will become familiar with the most popular companies offering these tests, and the features and tools which each provides. The speaker will be using case studies from her own research to demonstrate the many exciting benefits (as well as the limitations) of applying DNA data to genealogical research. Listeners will be cautioned to expect the unexpected, and will be advised to embrace the truth in their DNA, however surprising that truth might be.

This talk is for you if you’d like to understand how a DNA test can help you family history research, and which test is for you.

Suitable for many levels of family history experience, beginner to intermediate.
