Free UK Genealogy, a charity dedicated to providing free public access to family history records, is looking for new trustees to help shape the strategic growth of the organisation.

The volunteer opportunity, posted on the Charity Job website, states:

Free UK Genealogy relies on our dedicated team of volunteers who transcribe public records such as the indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths, Parish Registers and Censuses. The Charity also actively campaigns to improve access to public history through its commitment to making data available as Open Data.

We are seeking capable, motivated individuals to join our Board of Trustees to help shape the strategic growth of the organisation. We are particularly looking for people with backgrounds in one or more of the following areas:

  • Charity Law
  • Intellectual Property Law
  • Volunteer Management
  • Advocacy
  • Media (broadcast, print, web)
  • Web Design (user interface)
  • Web Design (user experience)
  • Web monetisation

We do not have a physical location. The Executive of Free UK Genealogy typically meet four times a year, three times via Google Hangouts and once in person. We are in an exciting and challenging period of growth, and additional meetings may be needed. We pay volunteers' expenses.
