The team behind a film project which aims to share the history of football with a worldwide audience has announced the launch of their crowdfunding project.
Football: A Unique Tale About the World's Favourite Sport is a film about how Association Football was born, developed and spread across the globe to become the international phenomenom it is today – while also telling the tale of the remarkable life of the game’s first ever entertainer, Fred Spiksley (pictured).
An addicted gambler, womaniser and German POW escapee, Fred would share the stage with Charlie Chaplin and be chased along the touchline by the future Queen of England.
A group of football fans, media professionals, authors and a football historian have agreed to donate 20% of all sales of the football documentary to the global charitable initiative Common Goal. The campaign runs until 15 December and offers a range of rewards which can be seen on the website.
