A birth and a death certificate
Birth, marriage and death certificates from the General Register Office for England and Wales are going up in price in one week, so order them quickly to save yourself money
There is just one week to go until family history researchers see a hike in the price of birth, marriage and death certificates (BMD) from the General Register Office (GRO) for England and Wales.
The cost of certificates from the GRO is rising from £9.25 to £11 each on 16 February 2019. Family historians will also have to pay £1 more for PDF copies of register entries, which are increasing to £7. Priority orders are going up from £23.40 to £35. The price rises in the cost of BMD certificates – which are vital records for family history researchers – also apply if they are being ordered from local register offices.

Some other costs are also being introduced from 16 February 2019, such as a non-refundable £3 fee for researchers who make an application for a certificate without knowing the index reference.
