English clergyman and novelist Charles Kingsley was born on 12 June 1819

Charles Kingsley, English clergyman and novelist who wrote Westward Ho! (1855) and The Water Babies (1863), was born in Holne Vicarage, Devon to the Reverend Charles Kingsley and Mary Lucas Kingsley on 12 June 1819. His novel Westward Ho! led to the founding of a village by the same name in Devon, the only place name in Britain with an exclamation mark!
