DNA discoveries with Amanda Holden and Alan Carr

TV personalities Amanda Holden and Alan Carr enthusiastically embrace delving into their family history on a road trip that covers Cornwall, London and Erith. Using both DNA and genealogy, they are able to unlock the secrets of the past and meet close family they never knew existed.

In true Upstairs, Downstairs fashion, Amanda's journey starts in the grounds of a stately home in Cornwall, while Alan's journey takes him to a pub in Erith with something of a colourful past.

Both celebrities are shocked and emotional to find ancestors with lives spookily entwined with their own modern-day histories and passions. It's almost like it's written in their DNA!

Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp's DNA journey

In episode 1 of DNA Journey, sporting legends Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp face a different kind of challenge than they're used to - embarking on a road trip that takes them North and South to discover each other's family histories using DNA and genealogy… meeting family they never knew existed.

Fearless on the cricket field, proud Lancastrian Freddie Flintoff is literally quaking in his boots that his DNA may take him to Yorkshire. A surprise - and a royal connection - is in store for one of them as they arrive at the Wakefield Mining Museum.

Jamie's family journey takes him to the East End and a real bombshell - a notorious mystery that has remained unsolved for generations… until now.

There's another revelation in store as the lads visit Tottenham Hotspur to find a family link... here's a clue... it's not ex-football manager, Harry Redknapp.

Episode 3: Martin and Roman Kemp

Martin and Roman Kemp take a family road trip of a different kind - one that delves into their family history that spans North London and the North East. Using both DNA and genealogy, they are able to unlock long held secrets of the past and meet close family they never knew existed.

Roman has been brought up hearing, on his Mum's side, the family folk lore of ancestors living in palaces in Egypt - treating it with a healthy dose of scepticism. However, the truth is even more fantastical...and the journey starts with Night at the British Museum.

Growing up in poverty in Islington, Martin comes face to face with a past that was never spoken about as he hears tales of female heroism about a Nan he never knew and is emotionally reunited with her unmarked grave.

Both celebrities are shocked and emotional to find ancestors leading parallel lives with their own - finding those who dared to dream and those who dared to survive. It's almost like it's written in their DNA.
