Although many family history events have been cancelled because of Coronavirus restrictions, a number are still scheduled to go ahead later in 2020.

Writing in their newsletter, the IHGS says: ‘We have not postponed our inaugural IHGS London Event, and we will keep you informed if circumstances change. The prospect of holding the IHGS London Event at the Society of Genealogists is something we are all really looking forward to. If we are forced to postpone it for any reason, we shall re-schedule it at the first available opportunity.
‘The focus of the event is Record Sources in Context. It will be led by the IHGS Director of Education, Les Mitchinson, accompanied by fellow tutors Ann Ballard and Lucy Browne. The cost is £50 per person.’

Mayflower sailing commemoration, 15 August
On the actual 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower there will be a public commemoration held at the Mayflower Monument that stands opposite Mayflower Park in Southampton.
The event is being organised by the Southampton Heritage Federation as part of the Mayflower 400 Anniversary Programme in Southampton.

Guild of One-Name Studies widening horizons seminar, 10 October
This ‘tools and techniques’ seminar will be run jointly by the Guild of One-Name Studies and the Local Population Studies Society, with various speakers looking at ways of collecting, analysing and interpreting data collected in the process of one-name studies or local population analysis.
