Tutor, author & historical researcher
Author and historical researcher Gill Blanchard has been conducting family, house and local history research on a full-time professional basis since 1992. She is also a qualified tutor and runs a variety of related courses including her own online house history course at www.pastsearchlearning.co.uk
As well as a wide range of private clients from across the world, Gill has assisted several authors, academics, journalists and television producers with their background research.
These include the BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are?, where she appeared on the Mary Berry episode in 2014 and the Jonnie Peacock episode in 2018. In addition to this have been featured widely in local press, national family history magazines and blogs, and appeared on various local radio shows as an expert and educator in the field.

On Saturday 15 May at 12 noon historical researcher, Gill will present ‘Stepping Sideways: Walking around the brick walls’ in which she will share strategies via mini case studies for solving house history research problems.
Gill will also be participating in the chats and plenary Q&A through the Saturday.
On Thursday 20 May, 6.30 pm, Gill will present ‘Back to the Land: The National Farm Survey, Inland Revenue Survey, Tithe and Enclosure Records’ a presentation in the summer lecture series.
