Author, broadcaster & historian

Dr Nick Barratt is an author, broadcaster and historian best known for his work on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are?

He is the Director of Learner and Discovery Services at the Open University, a teaching fellow at the University of Dundee and a fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He is currently the President of the Family History Federation, sits on the Executive Committee of the Community Archives and Heritage Group and is part of the Midlands 4 Cities Doctoral Training Partnership Advisory Group.

His latest publication, The Restless Kings, explores the reigns of Henry II, Richard I and John.

Nick has a long-standing interesting in house history, and is also author of Tracing the History of your House: The Building, the People, the Past, published in 2006.

On Saturday 15 May, at 1.15 pm, author, broadcaster and historian Dr Nick Barratt will be presenting the keynote: ‘Sources for House History’, in which he will discuss the key records for tracing the history of a house

Followed by ‘In Conversation: Tracing the history of your house’ during which Dr Nick Barratt and house historian, author and genealogist Keith Searle will delve into sources and discuss practical house history research experiences

Nick will also be participating in the chats and plenary Q&A through the day.
