75 new communities added to Ancestry website

Ancestry has today (7 April) added 75 new communities to its website for members with ties to to Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and more.

These new communities include:

  • 25 Mexican
  • 20 South American
  • 10 Central American
  • 12 Caribbean
  • 7 Southern European
  • 1 African

This may mean that you will see an update to your Ancestry results if you have ties to: Venezuela, Spain, France & Basque Country, Morocco, Algeria, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, Belize, Dominican Republic, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Southern, Central & north east Mexico, south east Texas.

Ancestry's ethnicity estimate reference panel has also been updated to include Indigenous communities of Australia.
