The British Newspaper Archive website celebrates its first birthday today, 29 November 2012.
Six million pages are now on the site, with 10,000 pages being added to the site each day - seven days a week. That's around 150,000 new stories a day!
The archive now holds more than 200 newspaper titles from the UK and Ireland, covering the period 1710-1950.

This is the biggest programme of newspaper digitisation to take place in the UK and a number of new features have been added to the website since its launch. One of the most useful for research purposes is the Recently Added Issues panel on the Newspaper Titles page enabling you to easily see if it would be helpful to repeat a previous search.
