The Encyclopaedia Britannica, which has been in continuous print since it was first published in Edinburgh in 1768, will end publication of its printed editions and continue instead with digital versions available online.
The flagship, 32-volume printed edition, available every two years, will continue to be sold until the current stock runs out. It is still available on the Britannica website for £1,195. An online subscription costs £49.95 per year or you can dowload the free app and pay £1.99 each month for full content access. The company also has a range of apps aimed at children costing £4.99 each. A replica of the 1768 edition of Encyclopaedia Britannica is also available for £99.
