In this expert session, Alison Spring explores the many difference sources that you can use to trace people who emigrated from Scotland to start a new life in another country.
The talk will deal with tracing emigrant Scots ancestors using a variety of sources, including:
- Kirk Session records
- Poor Law records
Alison will use examples in each record category to show their value in tracking down those who have left these shores and in some cases, those who returned.

The workshop will be hosted on Zoom and chaired by Chris Paton. It begins at midday UK time on 14 February 2024. It will last approx 1 hour 30 mins (inclusive of questions time).
