How to get started with AI for genealogy - confidently with Carole McCulloch, 25th September, 9am UK time
"Will AI help my research, or will it fabricate a family history worthy of historical fiction?"
This is a question that genealogist and AI family history tutor Carole McCulloch hears very frequently. In her talk, however, she’s going to show you how you can use AI with confidence…
‘Your concern is entirely valid,’ states Carole McCulloch. ‘As genealogists, we're guardians of accuracy and sworn enemies of "close enough" family stories. The last thing we want is to build our legacy on algorithmic imagination rather than solid evidence. Here's the revelation that changed everything for me!
‘With the help of my artificial intelligence tools, I could repurpose my research notes, realign the relationships for people in my family tree, and transform my scattered pieces into narratives that meant something to my readers. I now call myself an ancestral storyteller.’
Carole is very keen to emphasise, however, ‘AI isn't about replacing your genealogical expertise—it's about amplifying what you already do brilliantly.
‘Think of it as gaining the world's most patient research assistant, one who never complains about working through mountains of records and enjoys organising chaos. And don’t stop there with one assistant; build a team; a squad of AI assistants to plan, plot, create, write and edit those stories in your style, in your voice and with care.
‘By the end of this guide, you'll understand how to harness AI as your assistant while maintaining complete control over your family's narrative integrity.’
