In England before 1733 many documents recording routine events in the lives of ordinary people were written in Latin, but not the sort you may have learned at school. This interactive full-day workshop introduces you to the type of Latin used in historic documents. During the day, David Smith covers the following: - A short and simple explanation of basic grammar; - Examples of probate and manorial records, and straightforward early deeds; - How to convert dates expressed as feast days and regnal years into modern style. As part of your course, you receive a pack of materials including tables of abbreviations and Roman numerals. Important notes: 1. You do not need to be able to read old handwriting. 2. Book this course early because spaces are limited.
