Learn about county records, especially those relating to justices of the peace and court records. The Justices of the Peace carried out administrative duties in addition to handling local justice and criminals. You could find invaluable information in the sessions minutes and act books that are held in county record offices. You can expect find alehouse keepers, badgers, debtors and insolvent persons, gamekeepers, electors, jurors and freeholders, oath-takers, papists, freemasons, prisoners and taxpayers.
