When using DNA for family history we find ourselves dealing with a wealth of numerous DNA matches and possible family connections. This is great… but it’s easy to get in a muddle, to find you have duplicate names, or have missed spotting possible connections. And that’s where a Master Research Tree comes in. A Master Research Tree is different from your main family tree; it’s a tree that you create and use alongside your main tree. It’s in your Master Research Tree that you can explore possibilities, spot otherwise-missed connections between matches, and work out where a DNA match fits on your tree.
