Records have told me that my grandfather was William Henry Cundall, the eldest of four children of William Henry (Snr) and Emily (nee Wakeham).

Further investigation has led me to WH (Snr) being the son of Robert and Mary (nee Ellen). This couple arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, early in 1860, aboard the ship Bluejacket, having left Liverpool on 26 November 1859.

Working from the registers of their deaths, Robert was born in about 1834 and Mary in 1830, in what was then Lincolnshire, but apparently is now Yorkshire.

Although I still have a lot of work to do with the New Zealand records, regarding siblings, cousins, etc., I am hoping to find Robert and Mary’s origins in England. At this stage I think I need to be looking in the Ripon area. I would love to hear from anyone who may have lost Robert and Mary or have some idea of ther origins.
