This is my home for my new family history blog and it’s going to be very much a work in progress. The main names on my tree are Simons, Reeve, Kirkham and Hicken.

It must be admit I’m a very erratic genealogist, if I hit a brick wall in one line I will follow any other I can including wife’s and siblings, so my list of names is far greater then the 4 I have listed above. Hopefully in the coming posts I will be able to tell you about some of them.

I dedicate this blog to all my ancestors who have in what ever small way made me who I am, but most of all I dedicate this blog to my mother who passed away on the 19th of June. There are so many things I want to share about my findings with you mum but I warn you when we do eventually meet up again I’v a long list of questions I should have asked.

If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
Would you be proud of them?
Or don’t you really know?
Some mighty strange discoveries are made
In climbing family trees,
And some of them, you know
Might not particularly please

If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row
There might be some of them
You wouldn’t care to know.
But here is another question
That requires a different view.
If you could meet your ancestors,
What would they think of you?
