What is a Familyblog?

A Familyblog is a personal diary of your own family history. A daily pulpit. A collaborative space. A research tool. A breaking-news outlet. A collection of your favorite Ancestry links. Your own private thoughts. Even a photo album of your family and its history.

Your blog is whatever you want it to be. All we ask is that your blog deals in some way with the subject of Family History or Genealogy.

In simple terms, a blog is your own web site, where you write stuff and add pictures on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what’s new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you. Or not.

    Hi,

    We have a small local group of Family History buffs here in the Pacific Northwestern part of the USA.

    Would a blog like this be a suitable method for us to keep in touch and post thoughts & ideas.

    We would all have to have access to it but that shouldn’t be a problem.

    I searched the blogs for Smith - absolutely nothing for one of the most common names in the UK.

    It may well be, Why not give it a try?

    You can add users or members to your blog via the admin area once you have set it up…

    The Search facility on the blog page only searches the blog you are viewing, there may well be some smiths listed on some members blogs, but you’ll have to browse them individually, hope this helps.

    Could you include a date of last update on the members’ blogs so that we don’t keep going into those that haven’t been updated?

    I couldn’t understand some parts of this article ing With Family Tree Familyblogs! at Family Tree, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.

    How do I delete my blog? - all I seem to be getting are adverts for Viagra!

    Hi Wychmick.

    Sorry to hear that, we do receive many ‘Spam’ comments ourselves.

    If you are getting emails everytime someone leaves a comment then you can turn either this, or the ability to comment on your posts, off in your admin area in the ‘Options’ - ‘Discussion’ area.

    If you want us to remove your blog and account completely, either leave a comment to that effect or contact us direct via e-mail.
