The earliest dwellings recorded in Fleet were the mill and two farmhouses but the coming of the London to Southampton Railway Company in 1847 and the Army to Aldershot in the 1850s led to several large houses being built on the west side of Fleet Road and in Reading Road in Church Crookham. Fleet's growth into an important commuter town had begun. Percy Vickery has selected over two hundred photographs to create a vivid impression of bygone Fleet.
